新マスター・オブ・ワイン16人が誕生、30か国に409人のMW

　マスター・オブ・ワイン協会は28日、16人の新たなマスター・オブ・ワイン（MW）の合格を発表した。今年初めの7人と合わせて30か国に計409人のMWが存在する。

　ワイン資格で最難関のマスター・オブ・ワインは、ステージ2の理論と試飲の試験を経て、ステージ3のリサーチ・ペーパー審査を通過する必要がある。2020年は新型コロナウイルスによる世界的なロックダウンのため、試験とステージ1の入学審査が中止になったが、リサーチ・ペーパーの最終審査だけは行われた。

　基盤を置いて活躍する国のトップ6は、オーストラリア、カナダ、フランス、ニュージーランド、英国、米国。マスター・オブ・ワインはジャーナリスト、教育家もいるが、コンサルタント、バイヤー、醸造家が多い。トップ6の国はいずれもワイン産業が成長している国だ。
